The Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large group of viruses that among other things cause common cold and in severe cases cause the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). The virus is said to have originated in Wuhan, China and spread across from thereon.
As the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 continues to spread across the globe many people are getting infected and some have even died. Experts are constantly monitoring its spread in order to find a way to contain the contagion and develop vaccination and treatments for the same.
The known symptoms are fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more grim cases the disease can cause kidney failure, pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, and even death.
According to the experts, the best way to stop the spread currently is to take self-preventive measures such as social distancing, washing and sanitizing hands at regular intervals. Other measures include covering one's mouth and nose while coughing and sneezing simultaneously.
